Understanding and Using the Menu Bar on a Mac

Understanding and Using the Menu Bar on a Mac

If you are used to usually use Windows, you are used to seeing the menu bar for your program inside the window for your program.

In Mac OSX, the menu bar is always along the top of the screen.  It changes, depending on what program is active.  On the left side of the menu bar, next to the apple icon, the name of the active program is displayed.  For example, as shown below,  Word is the active program.

However, when you have multiple program windows open, you only have the one active menu bar at any time.  Click in a program window to display its menu bar at the top of the screen.
