Staff and faculty can do their own installation of SPSS on Windows or Mac computers owned by Carthage.  The software is available for 24 hour checkout from the Circulation Desk in the Carthage Library.

There is a license code inside the DVD case that will be used during the authorization process.

Windows users

Steps:

1.  Remove previous version of SPSS from the Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs (or Programs in Win 7)

2.  Insert DVD into computer.

3.  Double-click on the 32-bit or 64-bit installation program.

4.  When prompted, use default entries.  Select a single-user license of choices.

5.  The authorization box requires you to enter the long license key.

The installation should take about 5 minutes. This process will not remove any existing data files you may have.

Once finished, you will see an SPSS icon on your Desktop.

Mac users

Steps:

1.  Remove previous version of SPSS by dragging it to Trash.  Use 'SpotLight' to locate SPSS program in your Application folder.

2.  Insert SPSS DVD into your Mac.

3.  Double-click on the SPSS Mac installer.

4.  When prompted, use default entries.  Select a single-user license of choices.

5.  The authorization box requires you to enter the long license key.

The installation should take about 5 minutes. This process will not remove any existing data files you may have.

Once finished, you will see an SPSS icon on your Desktop.
